'Demo' - collates some of my most recent solo-bass tunes, of which I've been performing around the UK in the streets and venues over the past few months.
My original aim was to get these tracks in a studio and released onto fancy CD's....but being a solo artist, gathering such funds can be..difficult. So it's ended with these homemade CD's.
I've recorded/mixed it all at my home studio set-up and had massive help from Steve Lawson on the mastering side of things! The artwork was created and drawn by my lil brother - Toby Chatfield (who once I said I'd reward him with sweet goodies, he was straight onto drawing many many CD designs - each physical copy has a different design all by the main man Tobster! more on that here - jameschatfieldbass.com/2016/11/17/chatfield-demo)
It's always difficult describing your own sound, but I've kind of settled on - Ambient Math Rock (Solo Bass Style). So if you're into chilled-melodic-ambient-math-rock-bass noises-looping-delay sounds...then hopefully you've arrived at some music you'll enjoy!
These tunes have been massively inspired by; Jon Gomm, Steve Lawson, Nils Frahm, Elephant Gym, Daniel Griffin, Seth Horan, Dub FX & more....
There are many people I'd like to thank for supporting my journey into music over the past few months, providing constructive feedback on my tunes and for just generally being super great human beings; Michael Price, Daniel Tween, Jack Pederson, Ollie Patton, Pauline Locke, Jane Woods, Carl Chatfield, Pete Chatfield, Carlos Browne, Josh Hall, Cookie, Phi Yaan-Zek, Steve Lawson and everyone who's bought a CD, donated whilst I've been busking and have taken the time to listen to my music (whether that be Facebook videos, or Open Mics or in the streets!) - Thank you all so much! It means so much too me as you're supporting my music and aiding my journey into music! And for those of you who are new to my music, welcome and thank you for taking the time to check it out, enjoy!!!
Tracks 1 - 4 are played on my 5-String Warwick (high C), using a Capo and effect pedals (Boss DD-7 and Line 6 DL4) on selected tracks.
Track 5 - is an electronic remix of a solo bass tune (that'll you probably never hear me play).
Please feel free to message me about anything, any music you recommend I listen too, feedback on this EP, places I should play, people I should collaborate, food I should try, places I should busk or whatever you feel necessary!!!
Once again.............................. THANK YOU!
